The most recent WINL field trip took place on September 9. Several members and guests from Sweden participated. We gathered at the Coupeville ferry dock early in the morning to catch the 8:45 AM ferry to Port Townsend.
Our next stop was the renowned Sluy's Bakery in Poulsbo for FIKA. There were delicious pastries to choose from - too many options! Despite forecasts of rain, the day turned out beautifully, and we headed to the park at the marina to enjoy our treats. We had coordinated with the owner of the Valkyrie Viking ship, which we had visited during its construction at Jay Smith's workshop in Anacortes. Now located in the Poulsbo marina, it will soon offer tours around Poulsbo Harbor, accommodating 20-30 people. Rowing is not required but can be optional! Erik Knudsen provided us with an hour-long tour of the ship, explaining its construction, Coast Guard safety requirements, and how its parts function. It was highly informative. We had the opportunity to climb inside and explore. It was well worth the trip to Poulsbo to see it. We then enjoyed a pleasant lunch at a newly opened cafe near the ship.

We continued to Bainbridge Island to Sakai Park to visit another Dambo troll - Pia the Peacekeeper. She is very whimsical, situated in a forested area, and remains very popular.

Next, we visited the Bainbridge Island Art Museum, which is free to the public. The beautiful building is set in a garden environment. A stop there is highly recommended. They also have a children's museum attached. We enjoyed FIKA in the cafe there - another wonderful outing with great friends.
Coming up next - A trip to IKEA around the 3rd week of October when they display their Christmas items, followed by lunch in the restaurant.
