Lutefisk dinner a huge success!

“Best lutefisk I ever had”! “Great fun”! “Wonderful people, wonderful atmosphere and terrific event”! These are just some of the compliments that were heard from attendees of the Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge’s 3rd annual Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner. Nearly two hundred people attended and several others enjoyed their meal at home by ordering take-out. The dinner was a terrific opportunity for both members and non-members to have a Scandinavian cultural experience.

There were many volunteers who helped with the preparation and serving of the dinner and clean-up afterwards, including members of the Whidbey Island Ester Moe Lodge of

the Daughters of Norway. Music was provided by accordionist Lori Hansen, a long time Nordic Lodge member.

Along with the dinner, a large Bake Sale was also held. Baked goods were prepared by members of Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge and donated for the sale. During each dinner seating, attendees were also given the chance to purchase raffle tickets for a Kransekake which was given away at the end of each seating. The kransekake, which translates to "wreath cake", is the signature cake of Norway and a showstopping almond-flavored confection that is made for special occasions.
